Carole R. Beal, is a professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (USA). Her work focuses on the design and deployment of software for teaching mathematics to elementary school students, to engage both girls and boys in learning math.

Past projects include studies of literacy development, eyewitness memory in young children, and gender role development. She is a Spencer Fellow, and past associate editor of the Journal of Educational Psychology.
