The IAM group at Southampton is involved
in a range of research projects in the broad area of Multimedia Knowledge
Management. The poster will include the EU Open Knowledge (OK)
project developing new approaches to knowledge sharing in peer to
peer environments using interaction models and semantic web
technologies. In this project we are exploring ways of making multimedia
information accessible within the OK framework., The mSpace project
is innovating novel interface services to multimedia collections,
helping people to access and explore information in new and novel
ways eg by slicing, sorting and swapping cuts through their information
space with infoViews and preview cues. The IAM group is also involved in
basic research on the problem of the semantic gap in MMKM including the
development of novel approaches to automatic media annotation
and to soft annotation through the semantic space approach.
