It is a great pleasure to announce that our book Knowledge Cartography: Software Tools and Mapping Techniques has been published. It is a fantastic feeling to see the 400 pages, with all the maps and images in colour! This book shows the current state of the art in knowledge mapping. It is the first book to show knowledge maps can be applied widely for learning, information analysis and knowledge management. Whether you're a learner, educator, researcher or policy analyst, you will find new perspectives and tools to apply in your work. The book presents 17 chapters on concept maps, mind maps, argument maps, issue maps, thinking maps, in more than a dozen applications. The 32 contributors are leading researchers and practitioners in their field, from 19 Research Labs across South and North America, Europe and Australia. This project began in January 2007 when Springer-Verlag chose Knowledge Cartography for their special series "Advanced Information and Knowledge Processing" edited by Professor Lakhmi Jain and Professor Xindong Wu. The process of writing, reviewing, and publishing occupied the editors and authors for almost two years. The book will be launched at several events, beginning with the Concept Mapping Conference 2008 organised by Joseph Novak and Alberto Canas in Estonia and Finland next week (22-25 / Sep). We hope Knowledge Cartography opens your mind to the possibilities of visual thinking. Find out more at the book's website.
