Prof Stefan Rueger gives Inaugural Lecture

Professor Stefan Rueger today presented his inaugural lecture, titled ‘More Than a Thousand Words’. The title alludes to his area of expertise – research into practical and efficient search methods for Multimedia Information Retrieval, ie, video search engines, image databases, spoken document retrieval, music retrieval, query languages and query mediation.

Prof Rueger joined KMi from Imperial College London, where he held a prestigious EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship. He is also principal investigator in the UK Multimedia Knowledge Management research network.

His lecture was introduced by the OU Vice-Chancellor Brenda Gourley and concluded by KMi Director Peter Scott.
