KMi receives DSIT funding for Mark – Milton Keynes 5G project

Nancy Pontika, Monday 22 Jan 2024

The Mark – Milton Keynes 5G project kickstarted in November 2023 and will end in March 2025. The project’s primary objective is to create and showcase cutting-edge 5G neutral infrastructure tailored for high-density urban environments. The infrastructure’s practical application will be demonstrated at the MK Stadium, incorporating innovative technologies like autonomous shuttles and delivery robots, while providing resilient connection to critical services like emergency, security and remote control of vehicles.

KMi is taking the lead of formulating current and future scenarios and use cases that will guide the design of this novel 5G infrastructure. Additionally, KMi has oversight of the WP1, which is responsible for groundwork activities such as architectural design, defining requirements, and the sustainability plan.

The project has received funding from the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
