KMi at K-Cap2017

KMi continued its long association with the KAW/K-CAP series of workshops and conferences this week with a strong presence at the 9th International Conference on Knowledge Capture(K-CAP2017) held in Austin, Texas, USA the first week of December. The K-CAP conferences aim at attracting researchers from diverse areas of Artificial Intelligence, including knowledge representation, knowledge acquisition, intelligent user interfaces, problem-solving and reasoning, planning, agents, text extraction, and machine learning, information enrichment and visualisatiAon, as well as researchers interested in cyber-infrastructures to foster the publication, retrieval, reuse, and integration of data.

In addition to Ilaria Tiddi serving as this year’s Publicity Chair, KMi had three papers accepted for the main conference track:

• Forecasting the Spreading of Technologies in Research Communities, Francesco Osborne, Andrea Mannocci, Enrico Motta
• Propagating Data Policies: a User Study, Enrico Daga, Mathieu D’Aquin, Enrico Motta

and

• An ontology-based approach to improve the accessibility of ROS-based robotic systems, Ilaria Tiddi, Emanuele Bastianelli, Gianluca Bardaro, Mathieu d’Aquin, Enrico Motta

which was concurring for K-CAP2017’s best paper award. 

Additionally, Francesco served as panel member in "The future of scientific knowledge capture" at the International Workshop on Capturing Scientific Knowledge while KMiers Harith Alani, Miriiam Fernandez, Andrea Mannocci helped in the paper reviewing process as PC members.  

Finally, our congratulations to Ilaria on her 4-year appointment to the K-CAP steering committee.
