Jane Whild, Tuesday 27 Sep 2022

KMi members were among the 250 attendees who gathered in London on 22nd September for the OU Research Excellence Awards 2022.

The evening was a celebration of research across the OU and also saw the launch of the new OU Strategy. We are delighted that KMi members were recognised as winners in two award categories. These were:

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Judges recognised Professor Anna De Liddo and the Knowledge Media Institute team with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Award for their success in placing EDI at the heart of research methodology, outcomes and impact, making a significant contribution to the EDI agenda. Professor Advaith Siddharthan, Tracie Farrell and Charlotte Hamilton from the team collected the prize.

Environmental Sustainability Award: The Citizen Science and Artificial Intelligence Research Group received this award which recognised research or enterprise activity with sustainability at the heart of its methodology, outcomes and impact, making a significant contribution to the sustainability agenda. Professor Advaith Siddharthan, Professor Stefan Reuger, Janice Ansine and Rachel Redford collected the prize on behalf of the whole STEM cross-faculty team.

We are also proud that KMi people and teams were runners-up in three other categories:

  • Dr Petr Knoth for Best External Collaboration Knowledge Exchange.
  • Professor Harith Alani and team in the Covid-19 Award for research into Covid-19-related behavioural dynamics, misinformation spread and supply chain disruption.
