Sofia obtains award at ISWC’08
Marta Sabou, Sunday 02 November 2008 | Annotate
Sofia Angeletou’s submission to this year’s PhD symposium has been selected as one of the top three papers of the event and obtained an honourable mention. This is a remarkable achievement given this year’s incredibly high competition. Indeed, a record number of 39 submissions have been received, out of which only seven have been selected for oral presentation and inclusion in the conference proceedings.
Sofia’s paper describes her PhD work on the topic of semantically enriching folksonomy tagspaces by making use of online available ontologies. The FLOR system implements the first algorithm capable of performing such an enrichment. Folksonomy enrichment is currently a very hot topic, and, besides this award, it has also attracted interest from leading research and industry representatives. Well done, Sofia!
