First results of the TELeurope.eu interdisciplinarity survey in technology enhanced learning
Chris Valentine, Wednesday 27 July 2011 | Annotate
Last month an extensive questionnaire has been sent out to ~1.000 users of TELeurope.eu, a research community platform in technology-enhanced learning (TEL). 123 researchers from 25 different European countries replied and provided detailed information about their research backgrounds, practices and preferred methodology. The data is being combined with a network analysis of interpersonal platform connections.
First results indicate the United Kingdom, Spain and Germany to be core regions of TEL research in Europe. Among the respondents, Spanish researchers are more rooted in computer science, while the majority of German academics has a background in social science disciplines. UK, however, stands out as the center of cross-disciplinary research. Common TEL methodology includes design based research, user centered design, communities of practice and qualitative empirical methods. More results are to be published soon.
