Pushing the envelope with Learning Frontiers

KMi’s work on the Future of Learning with Technology was commended by the European Commission at the TEL-map project’s final performance review last week in the Euroforum in Luxembourg.

The work lead by KMi highlights the key high-impact innovations in learning with technology, helping to extend Europe’s capacity to innovate and helping to increase its standing as one of the world’s leading knowledge regions.

Together with the top ten grant getters of ICT funding in the area of technology-enhanced learning, KMi developed over the past 30 months a set of change scenarios for what the future of learning with technology should look like for schools, universities, and work places.

While often innovation in learning with technology that emerged from one setting fails to cross the ‘chasm’ to others, the scenarios selected (together with the adaptive roadmapping methodology) have been trialled and provide evidence that they will have wide social, economical, educatinal, and technological impact.

The innovation presented fall into three areas: they help improving awareness of each other and of knowledge, they transform learning (and teaching) to be more engaging by monitoring affect and preventing disruption, and – finally – they make progress in open collaboration in learning at scale across organisational and cultural boundaries.
