Following a kind invitation from Prof Bjørnar Tessem and Prof Csaba Veres, I spent three excellent days at the Department of Information Science and Media Studies of the University of Bergen in Norway.  During my time in Bergen I gave two lectures. The first one focused on my work on the Rexplore tool for exploring and making sense of scholarly data, while the second one centred on KMi, illustrating its range of R&D activities and its strategic mission in the context of the wider aims of the Open University.  In addition, ample time was dedicated to discussing possible research collaborations and in particular Prof Tessem and I had a meeting with fishery experts at the Directorate of Fisheries, to discuss the development and application of novel semantic and data mining approaches to the problem of efficient and sustainable management of fishery resources.  A follow-up visit of Prof Tessem to KMi took place a few weeks later, during which we had further in-depth discussions about establishing a research collaboration in the fishery domain.
