KMi Reporter, Tuesday 27 Apr 2021

Prof. Harith Alani, Prof. Enrico Motta, and Dr. Francesco Osborne are among the top 25 most influential scholars in Knowledge Engineering, according to the AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Annual List. This is an international ranking produced by AMiner, a popular academic search system, to celebrate the 2000 most significant contributors to the field of Artificial Intelligence.

The AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Annual List was generated by analysing the performance of 133 million experts in the last ten years and it is recognised by world-renowned universities and organisations, including the University of California, Berkeley, Cornell University, Duke University, National University of Singapore, and others. It covers 20 sub-fields of Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, Knowledge Engineering, Speech Recognition, Data Mining, Information Retrieval, Databases, Human-Computer Interaction, and others.

Prof. Alani was selected for his pivotal papers about the application of Sentiment Analysis to Social Media. At the same time, Prof. Motta and Dr. Osborne were chosen for their innovative work on Scholarly Data Analytics. Thanks to these contributions, The Open University ranks fourth overall among organisations in the field of Knowledge Engineering. The list also includes two KMi alumni: Prof. Mathieu D’Aquin and Dr. Hassan Saif.
