KMi wins OU recognition of Excellence in Teaching Award
Nancy Pontika, Tuesday 22 Jul 2025
KMi has won a 2025 OU Recognition of Excellence in Teaching (RET) Award for its work on the Student Facing Dashboard (SFD), demonstrating the valuable support that technology can provide for teaching and learning.
Over the past two years, the OU Analyse team at KMi, alongside colleagues in FBL and IET, has developed a student-facing learning analytics dashboard, co-designed with students to empower them in shaping their own academic success
The dashboard offers descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive insights, including personalised learning recommendations, and facilitates access to tutors and Student Support Teams. The results speak volumes:
- 31% increase in passing rates
- Strong student feedback praising its motivational boost
- Normalisation of help-seeking behaviour
- Support for mental well-being
This is a tangible example of #ResponsibleAI in action, delivering measurable impact where it matters most: in student outcomes and experiences.
Congratulations once more to the OUA team for more than 15 years at the forefront of research-led, student-centred innovation at the OU!
