Marian Petre Marries
Thursday 20 Dec 2007
Head of CRC and long-term friend of KMi Marian Petre was today married in Bletchley and – of course – KMi was there (at least virtually), using our webcasting experience to allow Marian’s parents in Illinois and relatives in New York to tune in and view the ceremony live. The original intention was to use Flashmeeting for the broadcast, but problems getting the Flash plugin to accept video from a camcorder feed meant instead a switch to Wirecast in combination with the QuickTime streaming servers based at the OU. Skype was used for chat. Marian Petre is a Professor of Computing at the Open University and Director of the Centre for Research in Computing. She is a Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award Holder.
