Yanna @MIT

Yanna Vogiazou is currently visiting the MIT Media Lab for two weeks to work with Judith Donath’s Sociable Media Group. On Wednesday 28 July, she gave a talk about her PhD work in the Media Lab, which was attended by people working on various areas within the Lab, including Donath and her group, Henry Lieberman, members of the Human Dynamics Group and the Interactive Experience Group. The presentation was particularly focused on Yanna’s recent work on the multiplayer location-based wireless CitiTag game, also covering previous online game experiments and background. The talk received a positive response and was followed by a very lively discussion covering many different aspects of ubiquitous and social computing, such as visualisations for group proximity, engagement, the dynamics of social interaction and group behaviour, as well as the technology used in CitiTag and other wireless social computing projects at MIT. This was also a great opportunity to find out about the latest, ‘cutting-edge’ research developments from this exceptional Lab. Yanna will be working on design exercises for visualizations of group proximity during the rest of her stay at MIT.
