The role

We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Environment and Sustainability to enhance our current research, teaching and knowledge exchange profiles in one or more of the following key areas: environmental modelling, hazard prediction and risk assessment; environmental pollution and remediation; ecosystem services, (urban) ecology and/or nature-based solutions; ecosystem management and conservation and/or biodiversity; environmentally sustainable geology; hydrology or hydrogeology; microbial biodiversity and/or biogeochemistry; GIS and remote sensing.

You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, to support our Environmental and Earth Science curriculum, and will be involved in the design and development of a new, innovative and research-informed module in environment and sustainability that will maximise the potential offered by online and distance learning.

You will also be expected to contribute to one or more of our existing research areas, to secure external research funding, and contribute to future REF submissions aligned with Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences.

You must be committed to the principles of equality and diversity in all aspects of your teaching, research and knowledge exchange. Experience of online and/or distance education would be desirable.

You will have completed a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline area.

The University was recently re-awarded an Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award; the School of Environment, Earth and Ecosystem Sciences received
its first Bronze Award in May 2021.
