The Faculty of Science have chosen the ERA (Enabling Remote Activity) project as their nomination for the annual Open University Teaching Awards. Jessia Bartlett of Earth Sciences asked KMi members Lewis McCann and Chris Valentine, together with Phd student Mark Gaved, to lend technical expertise to the problem of involving disabled students in summer school field work for the SXR339 course "Ancient Mountains: Practical Geology in Scotland". The Open University Teaching Awards Scheme is funded by HEFCE in support of the University's Learning and Teaching Strategy. The scheme exists to recognise and reward excellence in teaching and learner support and to promote the good practice demonstrated.
