A two day workshop on Annotating Image Archives To Support Literary Research was held on the 10th and 11th of October in Cardiff. It was organized by the School of Computer Science of Cardiff University. Its main goal was to bring together researches within literary studies (particularly those focusing on nineteenth-century literature and illustrations), and members of the computer science community focusing on Semantic Web and Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) technologies. Due to the interdisciplinary character of the workshop invited speakers came from such diverse fields as history, literary studies, journalism and computer science.
