Bletchley Park Text launched
Trevor Collins, Tuesday 24 May 2005
Bletchley Park Director Christine Large and Open University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) Dr. Paul Clark launched the Bletchley Park Text service on Tuesday 24th May, along with some Year 3 and 4 pupils from Cold Harbour C of E School in Bletchley.
Over 150 historical subject headings, relating to Bletchley Park, are displayed throughout the Park grounds. Visitors are encouraged to use their mobile phones to text any of the subjects that interest them to 07985 400413. On their return home, visitors simply log on to www.bletchleypark.org.uk/text and enter their mobile phone number to retrieve a wealth of information about their chosen subjects from a comprehensive on-line archive, never before available to the public.
Not only will the visiting public benefit from this not-for-profit service, but also Bletchley Parks many visiting school children. Pupils and students will have the opportunity to use the internet to do follow-up research and also to support classroom activities focussed on Bletchley Park in the National Curriculum.
