KMi Celebrates International Women’s Day 2021

Happy International Women’s Day 2021! This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge and we invite you to join in the many celebrations in KMi and around the Open University. 

KMi’s IWD celebrations

We have created this special feature page showcasing video messages from KMi Director, Professor John Domingue, and other staff members. They talk about the inspirational women who have impressed or influenced them and they celebrate the diversity in KMi.

At 12.30 pm KMi’s Senior Researcher, Dr Miriam Fernandez, is a panelist at this discussion hosted by the OU Business School, Women in Research: Making a Difference to the Wider World. Chaired, by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Josie Fraser, other speakers include Dr Jenny Douglas, Senior Lecturer, WELS, Dr Cinza Priola, Senior Lecturer, FBL, and Kate Lister, PFHE, WELS. Register here to watch online.

Other IWD events taking place in the OU are:

1.45 pm International Women’s Day Event organised by Women@OU and supported by EDI.  Speakers include Professor Marcia Wilson, Dean of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the OU, Professor Clem Herman, Director of eSTEeM and Ruth Spellman, OU Council Member. This will include a recording from Baroness Lane-Fox. Register here

2.00 pm Health & Wellbeing of Black Women in the Atlantic Diaspora: Conversations across the Atlantic.  This event is hosted by the Black Women’s Health & Wellbeing Research Network. Register here
