Athena Swan Silver Award Success
Kiran Parmar, Wednesday 8 Jun 2022KMi is delighted to announce that we have received an Athena Swan Silver Award following our recent submission to Advance HE.
The Athena Swan Self-Assessment (SAT) Team had membership drawn from our academic, professional services and doctoral students. Prof Advaith Siddharthan, who led SAT’s submission over the past year, said: “Our most compelling narratives were around how we achieved gender equality in promotions and how our research increasingly reflects our growing awareness of EDIA issues. Such achievements result from leadership and hard work across KMi over several years.”
In his endorsement of the submission outgoing Director, Professor John Domingue highlighted how the SAT and the management board have engaged with the whole department to establish a shared vision aligned to the Athena Swan charter and embedded into our practices and procedures. He said: “This work has created a supportive culture in the department that promotes flexible working practices and fair career progression opportunities.”
Incoming director, Professor Harith Alani said, “Congratulations to the SAT team. I am very much looking forward to working very closely with them and I offer them my unconditional support to implement our Silver action plan and guide KMi towards the next Athena Swan award.”
