KMi’s Prof Enrico Motta and Prof John Domingue attend the launch of the Milton Keynes AI Festival at historic Bletchley Park

KMi’s Prof. Enrico Motta and Prof. John Domingue participated in the launch event for the Milton Keynes Artificial Intelligence Festival, which took place on 28 October 2024 at Bletchley Park. The theme of the festival, “Celebrating the Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Ecosystem in Milton Keynes”, emphasises the historical role of MIlton Keynes as a city at the forefront of technology and innovation.
The festival brings together a range of activities designed to showcase AI’s potential across various fields. A particular highlight is the GenAI, Adult Learning and Skills Conference, which is organised by John Domingue and will take place on 30 October at The Open University. This conference focuses on the role of generative AI in adult education and skills development, reinforcing the OU’s commitment to driving innovation in AI research and education.
Other highlights of the festival include a Smart City Consultancy Hackathon, a workshop on Using, Building and Understanding Responsible AI, and an introductory session titled Launch a Career in Computing – Introduction to AI, aimed at inspiring the next generation of AI professionals. The hackathon, in particular, encourages participants to explore AI applications for urban challenges, furthering Milton Keynes’ vision as a model for smart city innovation.
