KMi researchers recognised as top scientists in Computer Science

Monday 29 Apr 2024

According to the recently published Research.com ranking, Professors Enrico Motta, John Domingue, and Harith Alani from KMi have been acknowledged as top scientists in Computer Science at the OU, occupying three of the top four positions in the ranking. In fact, according to the OU’s Open Research Online, Prof Motta is the top-cited professor in STEM of all time.

In addition to KMi, the Research.com top list of Computer Science researchers at the OU also includes two  researchers from the Institute of Educational Technology (IET) and another two from Computing & Communications (C&C).

Research.com utilises open citation data to calculate the h-index for each researcher, considering publication and citation metrics. This is further refined with a discipline-specific D-index, focusing solely on publications within the researcher’s field. This approach facilitates the ranking of leading scientists within each field, where the recognition is predicated on meeting a particular D-index threshold, which varies based on the discipline.
