KMi Admin Team Set Sail on an Away Day
Kiran Parmar, Wednesday 29 Sep 2021Since the pandemic the Admin Team have been working from home, like most staff and students at the Open University. Now we are permitted to meet, last week the team took the opportunity to all meet in person for the first time since March 2020.
Their team building afternoon took place aboard Electra, The Milton Keynes Community Boat, on the Grand Union Canal. Electra is a brand-new, 54-foot narrowboat that operates out of Campbell Wharf in the centre of Milton Keynes. She is the only fully-electric community narrowboat in the country. She can accommodate up to 12 passengers normally, but only 8 passengers during current COVID restrictions.
The team were delighted to be together after so long and spent time discussing how we can support the KMi Members during the coming months as we make the transition to new ways of working.
Our Admin Manager, Jane Whild, is one of Electra’s volunteer skippers. Jane said: “This is a relaxing and green way to travel around Milton Keynes, in contrast to moving around by road which is highly stressful this week as motorists are having to queue and compete for fuel.”
The Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterways Trust are looking for 3 Skippers and 5 new Cabin Hosts to join Electra’s Volunteer Team for training in November & December in time for the start of the 2022 season. Click here to find out more.
