KMi and QualiChain at ALTC 2019
Alexander Mikroyannidis, Thursday 12 Sep 2019Alexander Mikroyannidis joined the Association for Learning Technology Conference (ALTC) last week and delivered a QualiChain workshop. ALTC 2019 took place on 3-5 September 2019 in Edinburgh, UK with a packed programme and over 450 participants from across the globe. ALTC is an annual event aiming to confront and challenge established assumptions, approaches and accepted truths in relation to key dimensions of digital education, and advance our practice and thinking through critical dialogue and reflection, closer scrutiny of evidence and theory, and a stronger commitment to values including creativity, community, social good, openness and porosity, and more democratic access to knowledge and learning.
Alexander delivered an interactive workshop entitled "Blockchain technology for the lifelong learner". The session was well attended with participants contributing scenarios that place the lifelong learner at the very centre of the learning process and its associated data via the use of Blockchain technology. The ways that ePortfolios, accreditation, tutoring, as well as other aspects of teaching and learning can evolve within a learner-centred ecosystem based on the Blockchain were also discussed. The outcomes of this workshop will feed into the requirements of the QualiChain pilot conducted by the Open University. Alexander’s slides are available here.
