The new capabilities of Augmented Reality systems facilitate the definition of new interaction mechanisms that take into consideration the real (physical) world to create compelling user experiences. However, the lack of a proper HCI model forces interaction designers to develop multiple versions of their user interfaces for different hardware platforms, operating systems and persons with disabilities. Against this background, the OpenUIX framework offers a comprehensive definition of the interaction space, enabling designers to easily build interoperable user interface components adapted to the needs and desires of the end users.

Maven of the Month
We are also inviting top experts in AI and Knowledge Technologies to discuss major socio-technological topics with an audience that comprises both members of the Knowledge Media Institute, as well as the wider staff at The Open University. Differently from our seminar series, these events follow a Q&A format.
