The Web is being rewired around AI. On the one hand, the new evaluation criteria prioritise quality over quantity, "useful" and unique against the generic AI slop. On the other hand, AI agents are replacing search and visiting sites, remediating content into conversations. As an immediate result, a large number of authors are losing their audience either to the new changes in search engine policy or the zero-click fruition that AI summaries provide. As bot visits already overtake human traffic and AI-generated content is also expected to follow shortly, a question arises about how human authoring and publishing could and should engage with the future web. This seminar explores three approaches in continuity with existing trends in web-native practices.
Maven of the Month
We are also inviting top experts in AI and Knowledge Technologies to discuss major socio-technological topics with an audience that comprises both members of the Knowledge Media Institute, as well as the wider staff at The Open University. Differently from our seminar series, these events follow a Q&A format.
