Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping how work is organised, automated, and augmented. While much of the public debate focuses on productivity gains and technological progress, less attention has been paid to how these transformations may differentially affect men and women in the labour market. In this seminar, I present a data driven framework to assess how AI innovations intersect with occupational structures and income disparities. Building on recent work that links AI technologies to tasks and occupations, we explore how exposure to AI related change can be connected to gender disaggregated wage data. The goal is to identify where AI may amplify existing inequalities, where it may create opportunities for upskilling or reskilling, and how policy and organisational choices can influence these outcomes.
Maven of the Month
We are also inviting top experts in AI and Knowledge Technologies to discuss major socio-technological topics with an audience that comprises both members of the Knowledge Media Institute, as well as the wider staff at The Open University. Differently from our seminar series, these events follow a Q&A format.
