Alexander Mikroyannidis gives invited talk at UNESCO event

KMi’s Senior Research Fellow Alexander Mikroyannidis has given an invited talk at the event organised by UNESCO: Unlocking Knowledge: OER DC Webinar for Open Education Week – Exploring the Future of Education with AI and BlockchainThis annual event serves as a platform for global collaboration and learning in the field of Open Education. The aim of the 2024 event has been to explore the evolving landscape of education in the digital age, focusing on the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain technology, aligning with UNESCO’s 2019 Recommendation on Open Educational Resources (OER).

In his talk, Alexander discussed the challenges and opportunities of AI and Blockchain for lifelong learning and open education. In particular, Alexander shared results from ongoing work within the Open University, aiming to investigate the use of Generative AI for improving the production of learning materials and for providing students with personal digital assistants. Additionally, Alexander presented the new UKRI project SAGE-RAI, which aims to responsibly deploy Generative AI for smart assessment and guided education. Alexander also presented the lessons learned from the European Horizon 2020 project QualiChain and specifically from the lifelong learning pilot that he has conducted in the context of this project.
