Claudia Machado holds an MA in Education from the University of Minho - Portugal and has Postgraduate Certificate in Distance Education at SENAC - Brazil as well as in School Supervision by UNIVERSO – Brazil and a Licentiate Degree in Pedagogy by UNICEUMA - Brazil.

She was a lecturer at UNIVIMA - Brazil before moving to Portugal. She became a researcher at the E-learning program at the University of Lisbon - Portugal. She was also a visiting researcher at the Knowledge Media Institute (KMi-OU) under the supervision of Dr. Okada in 2014.

She is a Doctoral student in Educational Technology from the University of Minho - Portugal. Her research interests focus on the area of education, with an emphasis on distance education, mainly in the following areas: Continual Professional Development, Moodle VLE, Social Media and Educational Technologies.

Machado is currently a participant of the COLEARN Open Research Network (KMi/OU) and GIPTE - Research and Innovation in Educational Technologies (UFPE – Brazil). Her research interest focuses on Teacher’s CPD for using ICT and social media.

She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal OnisCiência. Her publications comprises 10 articles in academic journals, 11 papers in conference proceedings and 2 books in Brazil.
