I am a PhD student at KMi with a hybrid background in philosophy and computer science. Geographical Information Systems aim to become a complete and useful, hence cognitively sound, representation of our environment. At the same time the Semantic Web ambition is to unleash the true power of the Web through the use of standardised, machine understandable, services and protocols. My interest lies in trying to articulate both fields in order to provide a different approach to GIS interaction which would successfully make use of the emerging Semantic Web resources.

Keys: Semantic Web Services, GIS, ontologies, XML, cognitive models, e-government, programming languages
